Rabbi Ted Falcon's
work bridges the psychological
and the spiritual, encouraging deeper integration for greater freedom
of personal action and understanding.
Getting to the Heart of
Interfaith: The
Eye-opening, Hope-filled Friendship of a Pastor, a Rabbi and Sheikh, by Rabbi Ted, Pastor Don Mackenzie and Sheikh Jamal
Rahman, The Interfaith Amigos, was published in the fall of 2009 by Skylight
Paths. A Reform rabbi with a
doctorate in clinical psychology, he is co-author, with David Blatner,
of Judaism For Dummies and author of
Journey of Awakening:
Using the Kabbalistic Tree of Life in Jewish Meditation.
A teacher and student of Jewish meditation
for over thirty years, Rabbi Falcon
teaches a Kabbalistic approach to
spirituality through practices of Jewish meditation and the
interpretation
of Torah, ritual, and Jewish tradition.
Ordained in 1968 at Hebrew
Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, Rabbi Ted initially
encountered meditation through his interest in psychology. He earned a
doctorate in clinical psychology in 1975, with research focused on the
nature of meditative and mystical states of consciousness.
The model for the meditative
synagogue, born out of his need to
explore this approach to Jewish worship, began in Los Angeles in 1976, after Rabbi Ted and a small
group gathered for the High Holy Days. In 1978, Makom Ohr Shalom, a
Synagogue for Jewish Meditation, was officially
formed.
Rabbi Ted and his wife Ruth
Neuwald Falcon founded Bet Alef Meditative Synagogue when they moved
to Seattle in 1993. Although based
in the Pacific Northwest,
Rabbi Ted teaches and leads retreats nationally and internationally. He
is spiritual teacher and counselor to many, regardless of their
geographic location. He brings Jewish traditions of meditation and
spirituality to those seeking the spiritual essence of their
identity.
Rabbi Ted teaches the Way of
the Heart, an inner path of an Inner Path. With gentleness and humor,
he deeply affirms the integrity of each individual being.
